Beautiful

I'm speechless. 5, 10, downloaded. ^_^

starvingdude responds:

Woot, another download, and another 5 vote! =D fudging awesome, thanks jnry3

Excellent sound, lacks feel

I feel a sense of adventure and majesty. Some parts feel of danger and, at some sections, of calm -- even dreamy at times. It can also feel goofish. Overall, the tune is trying to tell me a travel sequence. An adventure, it's one big adventure.

Problem though is that it doesn't feel... space-ish, as the title suggests. Yes, the song took me to an adventure, but not that felt like travelling in space. I still felt like my feet were on planet Earth.

But don't get me wrong... the composition is fabulous. Incredible, even. It takes ridiculous effort and imagination to create something this good. Yes, I said GOOD.

Maybe I was looking for a sound that will lift me up, or fire me up into space.

Here's the hard part... 'coz I can hardly put these in words... it feels earthy, but it tells of adventure. I imagined palaces, royalty, and chases -- even a dash of magic. Just lift me up, either by magic or by rocketship, and the title will fit.

Pros: Top-notch composition. Incredible complexity. I dare say one of the best on NG.
Cons: Earthy feel -- it doesn't connect with the title (at least that's how I perceived it).

5 and 9. We don't suck; we just need more practice. ^_^

NickPerrin responds:

Hey man thanks for the review. Yes, you'll see that I've updated the rant, which will be fixed more later, to reflect what was your last line in your review: "We just need more practice." Sucking is only a temporary problem! haha...

Good track, but too Linkin

Pros: Excellent production, has good relistening value (as most tracks here in the NGAP are worth only listening to once). A job really really well done.
Cons: Linkin Park's influence here is strong. It felt like an offshoot of "What I've Done" without the lyrics.

You got my 5 and 9. ^_^

nubbinownz responds:

Hehe I get that ALL the time, and the sad thing is I'm not even a fan of linkin park.

But either way, thank you very much for the review and the vote :)

Uhm...

Pros: Nice concept.
Cons: Needs tons of work to make it more engaging to listen to. To start with, the entire mix sounds thin. I know it's still very basic, but it needs to be tuned to garner proper scores.

I feel you about the low scores (got here via the Audio Ads thread in the BBS), but listen to those who spent tons of time over their work, and you will hear the difference. I know you've spent time on this work, but you need to spend more time and tweak it more if you want a higher score.

Peace man. ^_^

linkbryan1126 responds:

i did throw it together, but i thought it sounded pretty good, and it definitly didnt deserve anything lower then a 1

im not saying its top quality, although i think its pretty catchy, but it got hammered pretty hard at first

Nice hook, needs better mixing and samples

Pros: Nice hook line. The composition is good for dancing and rapping.
Cons: Needs better samples/instruments to get this going to where it can go. Bass elements can be boosted (sub-100Hz area) to give it more kick.

Overall, it's a good track to develop further. I'm imagining a little more aggressive beat, with less clapping (or toned down, perhaps). I'd add some distortion/overdrive to the piano, too, but not too much -- just enough to give it some grunt.

HTH. ^_^

S-Rock responds:

What really sux is that when I made this beat it was on the Demo version of the program I use...I got the full version now and Cant edit it anymore =(.
So if anyone out there wants to Edit this track feel free but E-Mail me with the Finished product.

Very eighties; needs a bass boost

Pros: Nice tune. Very eighties pop.
Cons: Needs to adapt to the 21st century in terms of EQ-ing. Bass EQ needs a kick (boost sub-150Hz of bass elements) to give the track more life.

FatKidWitAJetPak responds:

It does doesn't it? Thanks for your help.

But I am afraid that if i boost the bass, then it might not sound as organic and real. But most techno shouldn't be that.

I hope this isn't the final mix

The guitars and drums lack grunt -- the energy I was expecting wasn't there. Bass and vocals are in the right place, though. Might just be an EQ/mixing issue.

Still deserves a five any day. ^_^

SwashieB responds:

Thanks, I played the bass.

Almost...

Pros: Good track; good composition.
Cons: Needs a revisit at the equalizer. Lacks low-end punch (can't feel the bass below 200Hz). Also needs some crisp (need to bump treble elements above 14kHz).

nubbinownz responds:

yeah i actually left the bass out except for the very end. but yes you're absolutely right. :D Thank you for the really informative review

Good job!

One thing though... why didn't you extend this track to, say, 3 minutes?

On another note, this would fit an action game's soundtrack very, very well.

Mixing... hmm... I'd bump up the sub-100Hz range of the bass guitar to give it more presence. Other than that, everything's good.

Fived and ten'd. ^_^

DarKsidE555 responds:

Shortness is my enemy but I can assure you that my newest two submissions are over 3 mins. long. ;)

Thanks for checking!

You can remaster this, then kick more ass

The sound concept is awesome, but the mix sounds thin. Here's what I think you should do:

1. Boost the low-end elements, like the bass guitar and the bass drum. This should give you a fuller sound, which would translate to a heavier track.
2. As a consequence of a thin mix, I didn't bang my head, not once. BUT I know this CAN be a banger. I'm just stressing the importance of #1.

Try listening this track to a closed headset. Also, mix the track with your mixing platform's EQ (Windows mixer settings) is flat (just in case...).

Riffs are awesome, by the way. Wish I can play guitar like that. ^_^

Bad-Man-Incorporated responds:

I hear it all, bro. I just need a bass guitar. That would help, more than turning up the low end on my tone. When I do that, I just get clipping. The palm muting on the lower strings, for some reason clip to hell.

I do mix with all my windows at flat. I used my headphones, my surround sound, and my house stereo...but sadly...I'm still not satisfied. haha. But in any case...I will NAIL the sound I'm looking for eventually. And when I do...you WILL headbang. haha.

Thanks for the awesome review, man.\m/
