Looks promising; needs tweaking

Guitar tone needs tweaking. Try boosting the bass a little more to give that heavy feel. I like the drum pattern, by the way.

Tweak the EQ settings of the instruments, especially the bass-side of the EQ -- it just might be the key to make this a headbanger. ^_^

NickPerrin responds:

Thanks, I'll look into that.

Brilliant!

I'm amazed how I came about this track -- meneldil mentioned you in the audio forums.

Sheer brilliance -- be it the composition or the production! There's no other word to describe this stunning track! An absolute ten! *_*

Nicely done

5 and ten. Good delivery, nice instrumental touch. ^_^

apzfreak responds:

Thank you very much! Good poetry isn't constructed, it's channeled like a spiritual medium. Whether or not I actually achieved that, it's up to you guys to decide!

There's a Dance genre

Concept and production is good, but I was looking for a more groovy beat and slicker transitions. Definitely won't fit the pop genre in its current state.

But the elements blended this way has lots of potential. Come up with THE arrangement, then this might get somewhere. ^_^

4 and 8 for now.

Awesome

You deserve the weekly top five (or top one, in this case). *bow hands-down*

cycerin responds:

*hi five* and I got it, thanks to you guys!

Sounds too synthetic to me

Here's my take:
- Opening transitions take too long. When it gets up and going, it's good, but it's a slow start.
- I like the way you toyed with the percussions. It gave your song a lot of life.
- I was looking for a more melodic bassline... but that's just me.
- Putting a wah-wah effect on the synth guitar would be nice.
- The components of the track sound very synthetic. I wish you could "de-synthesize" them by toying with the equalizer of each component.

And that's how the cookie crumbles. =P

Good sound concept; needs balancing

I like the concept of this track, just needs tweaking at the execution end.

If it's my take, here's what I'd do:
1. Boost the bass EQ of the bass elements to fill in the bottom end. I'd probably tap the sub-150Hz region for this, and add, say, 1-2dB to give a fuller-bodied bass feel.
2. I'd probably have variations with the hi-hats. They've been open the whole time; try adding closed variants for a crispier feel.
3. Try cutting the ending. There's about ten seconds of dead air in your .mp3.
4. That percussion instrument that comes in at 0:21 (sorry for being a dumbass) sounds good, but I'd probably add a touch of mid-range to it, or increase its overall loudness by just a wee bit.

Other than that, you got my 5 and nine. ^_^

There's more jazz here than rock, IMHO

I found this through Crosses of Light, and it's still a good track.

Drums sound overcompressed, though. Everything else seems okay.

One thing... there's more jazz in this track than rock. Why isn't this in the jazz genre?

uziwave responds:

you are right it's more jazzy but it can't fit into jazz because of the beat
and the guitar sound can't fit for a jazz song this is General Rock indeed.

Fantastic

There are some parts that I find a bit "draggy" (I was looking for a transition/progression), but this is an awesome track!

I kept on imagining plugging in an industrial guitar, though -- heavy distortion with power chords. Should be fun for headbanging. ^_^

Rucklo responds:

Hmmm... sounds like a good idea... :)

Thanx for the review!

A gem that needs cutting and polishing

If for melody and concept alone, I'd give 5 and 10. So here's the reasons why I left a 4 and 7:

- I've heard tempo shifts, especially between transitions. The louder parts tend to play faster. Nothing a metronome won't fix.
- Some transitions were not clear cut. I can sense the confusion between band members.
- Mixing needs to be revisited. Instruments aren't balanced, and the vocal track is soft.
- Vocals need polishing. Nothing practice won't fix.

Hope to hear a polished version of this track. I really enjoyed it. ^_^

EOVotes4Pedro responds:

i understand, and thanks for your feedback! i may repost a "polished", as you said, version of it later.
